As a teenager, Marcia earned a scholarship to study with George Balanchine’s School of American Ballet. She also danced with the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo, New York City and Martha Graham and Jose Limon at Connecticut College, New London, CT. After an early injury forced her to give up a dance career, she turned to painting. She took with her an elegance and grace that are reflected in the delicate sensitivity of her paintings. The Russian master, Sergei Bongart, described them as “poetry”. Marcia also studied at the Art Student’s League in New York City with Sidney Dickenson.
Her paintings are in private and corporate collections across the U.S.A. and Europe and she has had numerous shows in both the U.S.A. and France. Marcia and her husband George taught painting at the Lyme Art Association and privately. They live on Connecticut Shoreline and in the South of France.
